The Power of Focus

This morning I was reading a thread on the Warrior Forum and someone posted their opinion about a topic that gave me a major AHA moment. They were wondering how some people get more done than others and how they can manage their various projects so that they can increase their income. The AHA moment came when someone responded that they should only concentrate on ONE project at a time even if it takes months to finish. For example, if I’m interested in Internet marketing, affiliate marketing, writing Kindle books, etc., I should concentrate on just one of those for at least most of the year. If that focus area wasn’t bringing in an income that they could live with, then and only then should they move on to the next model. Two thoughts: One, that is a long time to try to succeed in an area. If I failed for some reason along the way, starting all over a year later means I lost a year of my life trying to make an income that never panned out. The second thought was fear. The fear of failing, becoming frustrated, and giving up. I “feel” safe in working in my current areas of affiliate marketing, writing Kindle books, reviewing mystery books at BellaOnline, and working with my various websites such as Elder Care Café.net. I do receive some money from Elder Care Café through links in articles and the occasional sponsor. I also seem to pick up Amazon income through the MysteryBooks links, but rarely through other websites. I also receive income from my Kindle books although right now that’s dwindling because I don’t have my next set of stories finished. And, to be honest, I have used all of the promotional tools and suggests I’ve picked up on the Facebook Kindle threads. From what I heard, the more I publish the more likely I will continue to make money. Plus, I never know when I will write a hot series and really starting earning more. Of course, that can be said of any of the above areas. Dare I Focus? I’m trying to get my head around sticking with one area and letting the rest simmer for nine months to a year. Not sure I have that kind of faith right now, especially because I am not as young as I used to be and time is definitely not on my side. […]
